Left-Right-Left Ice Breaker

Description

This ice-breaker is sure to get people laughing and provide a fun introduction to a training session or luncheon.

Directions

Have your group arrange their chairs in a circle or around a table. Tables should include no more than eight people in order to involve everyone. For larger groups, simply add additional text to the story. And be sure to speed up when you read the final directions “left-right-left.”

Hand one person a small item such as a Squeezy Peezy Stress Ball. Ask the group to follow the directions and pass the ball as you share a brief story about Customer Service Week. The person holding the ball at the end of the story, wins the prize.

A Customer Service Week Tale

Last month I glanced at the calendar and right then and there realized that there were only a few weeks left until Customer Service Week. Since I like everything to be done just right, I was left with no choice but to start planning a special recognition event right away.

This year’s Customer Service Week theme is just right for our team. Because right here in our department we had lots of reps who make the Impossible Possible for our customers. With the theme in place, I called my good friend in accounting Sally Leftwich, “You’re right, you’re right,” she said, “it’s perfect.”

Now it was time to select the right decorations, plan the right activities, and make sure that all of the right people were invited.

When I finished planning I should have been left with a feeling of great accomplishment. There’s nothing like planning a special event for the right people. But instead I was left with a feeling that something was missing. Right then it hit me. We needed a fun ice-breaker to get the event started on the right note. I called Sally Leftwich and she suggested something she calls the leftrightleft ice-breaker.

Congratulations if you’re holding the ball, you are the winner. Now, I’ve left the best for last, we have a lovely lunch waiting for us right over there.
